BMW plans to show off a new vehicle at this year's Monterey Car Week. But it's up to us to speculate what it'll be. We have fair guess that it's going to be a new Z4.

The automaker didn't explicitly say what the new vehicle would be beyond claiming it'll be "an emotional addition to the BMW range." But with spy shots recently surfacing of a rather Z4 looking vehicle making its way through test tracks, we might take a guess.

Last year, BMW showed 8-Series and Z4 concept cars. The company plans to make a North American debut of the production 8-series this year. It'd make sense for the Z4 to follow alongside it again. We also know that the Z4 will share a platform with the new Supra thanks to a cost-saving agreement between BMW and Toyota. This means time saved on preparation.

Since a Z4 M40i will use the company's 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6, we can expect similar power output in a newer Z4, perhaps more. That'd push out around 355 horsepower.
