The Goodwood Festival of Speed is underway. And with it, we see a lovely collection of interesting vehicles. One rather interesting example was an Aston Martin Cygnet with significantly more power.
The Cygnet was a short-lived attempt at rebranding a Scion iQ with a 1.3-liter engine. It helped lower the company's emissions average, but it was a financial flop overall. The lack of consumer interest hasn't stopped one Cygnet owner from getting an internal makeover, complete with V8 engine.
Within that tiny frame rests a 4.7-liter V-8 engine from the previous-generation Vantage. It also has been given the Vantage's seven-speed automated manual transmission, limited-slip differential, and suspension. This gives the vehicle an impressive 430 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. Aston Martin estimates the V8 Cygnet will hit 60 mph in 4. 2 seconds and has a top speed of around 170 mph.
To compensate for its newfound potency, the Cygnet was given a pair of 275/35-size tires with 19-inch wheels in the back. A slightly thinner set of 19-inch wheels resting in the front.
It's always fun seeing automakers having fun with their creations.
