The Kalashnikov brand is known worldwide, just not for what you may think. The company is the producer of the AK-47 assault rifle. And now, they're also the producer of the CV-1 electric car.

The Russian gun manufacturer unveiled their latest project at the 2018 International Military Technical Forum in Kubinka, Russia. the CV-1 electric car is their break into the automotive industry. The exterior design is inspired by the 1970s Izh 2125 Combi, evident by the clear, retro style. Had you merely looked, you'd not guess it for a brand new model.

The vehicle draws power from a series of modular batteries built together to form a 90-kWh capacity. With an alleged 295 horsepower and a zero to 60 time of approximately 6 seconds, the CV-1 utilizes a special inverter, giving it a range of 220 miles on a single charge.

As fun as it sounds to drive a fully electric car styled like the 1960's and build by a gun manufacturer, the vehicle will most likely not come to the States. Kalashnikov has yet to confirm plans for production at all, at this time.
