What is the cost of comfort? It's an important enough aspect of a vehicle that a luxury car in China has been built around creating the best ambience possible.

The S90 Ambience is the latest concept by Volvo based on the S90 sedan. It debuts Wednesday at the 2018 Beijing auto show. The automaker boasts a combined sensory experience beyond that of anything in the industry before.

The vehicle borrows ideas from the S90 Excellence, which removes the front passenger seat in exchange for a more comfortable cabin. The S90 Ambience, however, also includes seven smartphone-controlled visual themes, each with their own unique sounds and scents.

Whether you want relaxation, peace, or invigoration, There's a theme for you. On the visual side, lights and shapes emanate from the cabin's ceiling. Ranging from Northern Lights to Archipelago, each theme provides their own sense of emotional imbuement. To further reinforce these sensations, one of four bespoke scents will come from a portal in the center of the vehicle console. Special sounds will play alongside each theme. Primary emitted from a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, it can also be heard from small speakers within the headrests. This creates a new level of immersion from your seat of choice.

AS amazingly overdramatic as this sounds, it is merely a concept. Volvo intends to implement a few of these features in future vehicles, but an actual S90 Ambience won't be found on the streets.
