In an announcement by Volvo Car Group, a new car brand is coming. Called M, it has nothing to do with BMW's M division.

The M stands for "mobility." It's Volvo's approach to the "on-demand" side of the automotive industry. Though Bodil Eriksson, CEO of Volvo Car Mobility, claims to be different than other services.

"We’re focused on the way people use the cars they own, which sets us apart. We aim to provide a real alternative to that experience. It should enable us to live life on our terms, getting things done and maximizing precious time."

Little was made clear as to what that meant exactly. We do know that the Sunfleet car-sharing group will be integrated into M in the near future. With 1,700 vehicles in operation, Sunfleet is Sweden's largest car-sharing company at this time.

M's headquarters will be based in Stockholm, with plans to launch in Sweden and the U.S. sometime in 2019. No other information has been made available at this time.
