Have you ever driven between Cleveland and Chicago? It's not fun. The 5.5-hour car ride is slathered in rough roads and less-than-ideal drivers. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) is looking to resolve this problem.

As the name implies, HTT specializes in Hyperloops. This technology operates similarly to that of trains, carrying passengers to their destination via a rail system. The difference with these is that they use solar panels and giant magnets to do this at some extreme speeds.

HTT has recently signed an agreement with state transportation departments in Illinois and Ohio Thursday to begin seeing if a Hyperloop between Chicago and Cleveland is viable. This consists of a study that will identify possible routes for the Hyperloop line. If the idea appears feasible, it will be the first interstate Hyperloop line in the United States, allowing riders to travel between locations in only 30 minutes.

Even if the project is greenlit, it will be a very long time before it would be completed. Logistics aside, it's a very long way to have to dig and construct. Have fun, future generations.
