Armormax, the Utah based car mod company, makes their living by transforming regular cars into hardened tanks by giving them armor. Their latest subject is a Tesla Model S P100D. A bespoke modification, Armormax claims it is the fastest armored car in the world.
It is no doubt the quickest armored car, sure, but is it the fastest? An unarmored Tesla Model S P100D can go from 0 to 60 in only 2.4 seconds, but its top speed caps at 155 mph. The Armormax website boasts having worked on an Aston Martin Rapide and a Porsche Panemera GTS, both of which have higher top speeds than the Model S.
All of this assumes an unarmored vehicle, however. While Armormax claims that the armor is negligible on performance, the 550-pound increase by the armor raises the vehicle's mass by 10 percent. It may take some math to figure out just how much that would slow things down, but it doesn't take much math to know that it will slow down to some degree.
Perhaps its nitpicky to make the distinction, but when it comes to cars, "quick" and "fast" are very different. The Tesla Model S P100D is undoubtedly quick, but it's not the fastest.
That said, I wholefully approve of this Tony Stark level of technology and durability coming together in a vehicle. All that's missing now is a robot voice with a British accent telling me how to shake off the enemies chasing after me.

This Armored Tesla Model S Isn't the Fastest
