Electrification takes another step closer to world domination, as the NHRA announce that electric race cars will become part of their future.

NHRA president Glen Cromwell confirmed that the organization plans to include electric drag racing as part of their marketing, and they have already begun talks with various automakers about the idea.

"Wally Parks’ mission was to provide a place to race. If the demand from the consumer is there, we’ll provide a class. We’re in the car business. The NHRA will evolve."

Don't worry, no one's favorite spots will be removed to make way for the new branch. Things wouldn't be the same without Funny Cars, if you ask me. Cromwell made it clear that electric racers will be an important part of the NHRA's future, but it won't affect the other staples of the association.

No date has been provided as to when we can expect this new feature to launch, but we can certainly expect a number of familiar brands to partake.
