The Tesla Model S and Model X are now just a little bit better. Tesla announced in their December newsletter that both models will be available to buyers with all-wheel drive.

Future models will have a "D" in their name to indicate that they are equipped with dual motors to support all-wheel drive. This extends to all variants, referred to as 75D, 100D, and P100D accordingly. The cheapest of which is the Model S 75D, checking in at $74,500 before tax credits or other government incentives.

When Tesla announced their pricing changes to their lineup, the only rear-wheel drive to remain was the Model S 75. The 100D and P100D had their prices change by $2,500 and $5,500 accordingly.

This decision is possibly an effort to distinguish these models from the Model 3, which will have rear-wheel drive standard. Though Elon Musk announced the intention to add a dual motor all-wheel drive option to the Model 3 in Spring of next year. Though if I've learned anything over these years, its that I shouldn't try and predict what Tesla is going to do.
