Previously, we were told to expect the Model Y sometime in 2020. Musk recently stated that it would debut March 15. Though shortly after this statement, he clarifies that he made that up, because "the Ides of March sounded good." The date is best known as the assassination of Julius Ceaser. It's not all in jest, however.
"But consider it real. We could unveil Model Y anytime from late this year to mid next year, so March 15 is about right."
So far, we don't know much, about the electric crossover. Musk predicts that demand will exceed that of their entry-level sedan, the Model 3.
Musk has also spent some time expanding his thoughts on the media and its portrayal of Tesla.
"It is strange that big auto companies literally have thousands more factory injuries than Tesla & millions more auto deaths, but somehow get less coverage. We are not perfect, but we’re doing our best to make clean energy real & be a good company.
. . .
Problem is journos are under constant pressure to get max clicks & earn advertising dollars or get fired. Tricky situation, as Tesla doesn’t advertise, but fossil fuel companies & gas/diesel car companies are among world’s biggest advertisers."
This was met with heavy amounts of criticism, with users making such comments as "Musk continues his slow transformation into a media-baiting Trump figure screaming irrationally about fake news."
