Tesla continues to revolutionize in new ways. This time the automaker broke a Guinness World Record when their X crossover SUV towed a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for nearly 1,000 feet. That's the record for the heaviest tow by a production passenger electric vehicle.
Taking place in Melbourne, Australia, the vehicle towed a Qantas brand passenger jet. This particular jet weighs a hard 286,600 pounds, which is equal to about 20 T-Rex. This is far higher than the Model X's tow rating of 5,112 pounds (about 1/3rd of a T-rex).
Before Tesla, Porsche set their own record when a Cayenne Diesel managed to pull an Airbus A380 for 137 feet. The Cayenne pulled nearly 630,000 pounds (45 T-rex) to the Tesla's 286,600 pounds. The two records are different, as the Model X claimed the title for passenger electric cars.
The record-breaking Model X had the P100D variant package, giving it 603 horsepower and 713 pound-feet of torque. The "Performance 100 Dual-motor" package proved to be a vital upgrade.
This isnt the first time that Tesla and Qantas have worked together. In 2016, the two companies had a drag race between the Tesla Model S and a Boeing 737. The event was intended to be a celebration of innovation and sustainability with Tesla. You can find that video below.

Thank you for sharing, tesla is getting impress to everyone day by day, I am a big fan of Elon Musk who is CEO of Tesla, I am just waiting for the tesla trucks who is going to come soon, Maybe at 2022 tesla will release the truck, currently we are using ford trucks for our towing company which we use for Roadside Assistance Services, but in future we are willing to convert into the electric trucks.
