Tesla has had a rocky couple of years, despite how it seems. More than once they've failed to meet production deadlines they've set for themselves. Fortunately, the electric car company finally manage to meet production goals for the second quarter with the Model 3.

In this most recent quarter, the company managed to more than double their weekly production rate of the Model 3, thanks to a new assembly line built under a tent in less than three weeks. According to Telsa CEO Elon Musk, this expansion is responsible for 20 percent of all Model 3s produced in the last week. In the last three months, a total of 5,031 Model 3s have been produced.

While this is certainly an improvement, it's not nearly enough. Since production begun, Tesla has built 28,386 copies of the Model 3. Currently, around 420,000 customer reservations sit in queue. Musk intends to further expand their production rates, aiming for 6,000 Model 3 sedans a week by the end of August.

Given the laws of supply and demand, we should be thankful that the price of a Tesla Model 3 hasn't skyrocketed (there's a SpaceX Joke for ya). Though interested buyers might have to wait a while, all the same.
