The 42-year-old car enthusiast was awoken at 3:40 am this morning by the sound of an engine revving. A number of teens had forced their way into his garage and stolen a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS coupe, a black Jaguar sedan, a Range Rover, and an unregistered Yamaha WR250 motorbike.
Two of the vehicles have been found, but the black Jaguar sports sedan and the motorbike remains missing. The Range Rover was located in a crash with a nearby M2 motorway on-ramp. Three teenagers, age 16-18, were arrested following the accident. They have since been taken to the Ryde Police Station, where they were charged with aggravated break and enter, commit a serious indictable offense in company, and two counts of being carried in conveyance taken without consent. All three have been refused police bail and will appear in court today.
The 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS coupe (image above) was spotted when a resident noticed the vehicle in the area, which would later be discovered in an online "for sale" listing.
“The first thing I noticed when I pulled over to the driveway was the bright car there with the windows open and I’m like okay, that’s a bit odd, to have such a car left on the street in the rain.”
