Two cars that were believed to be street racing were involved in a very interesting high speed accident. The two cars were speeding northbound on Kelly Avenue in Akron, Ohio very early on Wednesday morning. One of the drivers took his Chevy Impala off the right side of the road and crossed over the sidewalk. He then proceeded to drive straight through a fence at American Medical Response.
The car then became out of control and drove into the side of a parked car, sending the vehicle sliding about fifty feet into a different parking space. The speeding car bounced off of the parked car, hit a pole, and landed sideways on top of a guardrail. The driver was ejected about twenty feet through the windshield, but when officers arrived to the scene he was up and walking around. A woman in the passenger side of the car had to be pulled out, but she was also conscious and talking. Both sustained injuries, but nothing life-threatening.
The engine of the car had also been ejected. It had been ripped from the car during the final collision with the pole and bounced about seventy-five feet from the crash. The second car that was believed to be racing was hit by the engine, which tore his fender off. Both drivers were at the sight of the crash and nobody was seriously harmed. Although it is speculated that the drivers were racing, police are still looking into the situation before releasing any statements about what was going on.
