Roll-Royce has always been a primary contender for posh luxury. Now yacht enthusiasts have a more reasonable road option with the "Boat Tail."

The British Automaker's parent company BMW recently applied a trademark for the name with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). It appears to be based on their previous project, "the most expensive new car ever built," the $12.8 million Roll-Royce Sweptail.

Depending on how similar the Boat Tale will be to the Sweptail, we can assume a number of features. It would be built upon a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe chassis, a massively sized grille, and a large panoramic roof. Most importantly, it'll have a rather boat like rear passenger section.

BMW filed the trademark on Wednesday, which means we may hear more about the latest project in the near future. Stay tuned.
