Earlier today, Rolls-Royce announced a decision to auction off the first official production Phantom on January 27 at the 2018 Naples Winter Wine Festival for charity.
The event was founded by the Naples Children & Education Foundation. It takes place over 3 days in Naples, Florida. The auction of the 2018 Phantom will all go towards the foundation.
There's more to win than just a Phantom, however. The winner of the auction will also get the chance to act as a judge for the 2019 ROBB Report Car of the Year event. And to top it all off, the winner will receive a fine wine collection from Napa Valley winery, Alpha Omega.
This 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom will be donning a Belladonna Purple exterior with an Arctic White and Tailored Purple cabin. The line will also have an extended wheelbase option. Both options will feature an aluminum spaceframe referred to as the "Architecture of Luxury," which will be a part of all new Rolls-Royce vehicles
As expected, there's more than just fashion to this car, under the hoods is a twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V-12. This power is surprisingly silent, with 563 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque being almost silenced by 286 pounds of sound insulation and special foam-filled "silent seal" tires.
The previous Phantom had a starting price of over $420,000, so I can imagine that a fairly hefty sum of money will be made for the Naples Children & Education Foundation next January.
