I always knew that robots would slowly take over our industrial workforce, but I hadn't expected them to take over our motorsports. Technology firm Roborace made a name for themselves at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed when their fully autonomous race car successfully climbed the hill.

The vehicle is capable of seeing everything in a 360-degree view thanks to an Nvidia Drive PX2 computer, radar, lidar, ultrasonic, GPS, and camera sensors. All of this controls the four 135-kilowatt electric motors pushing a total 500 horsepower.

The Robocar was designed by Daniel Simon, a former senior designer at Bugatti best known for his work making fantasy vehicles for such movies as Tron: Legacy and Oblivion.

To be fair, the Robocar wasn't the only autonomous vehicle to take the hill climb. An autonomous 1965 Ford Mustang, commissioned by Siemens and the Cransfield University in the U.K., also made its way up the track.
