New Technology Can Be A Hassle

Automakers are looking to simplify your life with new AI systems like Amazon Echo's Alexa. Remind her to email your boss, remember a birthday, or Google something so you don't have to get up and grab your tablet.

But now, this commodity is finding its way into cars, and things are going to get a little annoying for a bit.

More Distractions

It was announced at CES that Alexa and Microsoft's Cortana will now be featured in new car models. And while they might make navigation in strange cities easier on you, they're also going to want you to buy things. Oh, and remind you that you forgot to turn off the lights, and close up the garage.

And let's be honest, there are some terrible drivers out there now as it is. What are driving conditions going to be like when people are driving around being distracted?

Among some of the automakers joining in on the excitement are Ford, Volkswagen, Nissan and BMW. The former will feature Alexa, while the latter will incorporate Cortana.

Do Drivers Have Options?

The AI will be featured in select cars by the automakers, so if a driver wants to opt for a car without Alexa or Cortana, that's still possible. However, it does make us wonder, for how long?

Amazon didn't just create Amazon Echo, they've created an AI system that will become incorporated in people's homes, cars and phones. People will be able to walk around all hours of the day with an AI assistant. Suddenly, Googling things will become dated, and cars that don't talk to us will be old news.
