The car Princess Diana tragically died in will be returned to the rightful owner. Jean-Francois Musa, the car's owner, wants the vehicle to be displayed in an American museum as a sign of respect for the beloved Princess. The British government seized the car for inspection after the crash and Musa has not had the vehicle in his possession for almost twenty years. He said, "It's legally mine, but iw as shipped to Britain for the police and judges to inspect over there. It should have been sent back to me years ago, but it never was."
Musa has gotten a lawyer involved in the past, but it didn't change the situation. The British government still refused to send the car back and have held on to it ever since. The car crashed in Paris on August 31st, 1997. The limo hit a concrete wall in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel and took the lives of Princess Diana, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, and the driver Henri Paul. They were all pronounced dead when police arrived and the only survivor of the accident was Princess Diana's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones.
The British royal family have said that they do not want the car to be shown or displayed. They requested that the car be disposed of secretly, but unfortunately there isn't much they can do. Since the car is legally owned by Musa, the wreckage must be returned to him and the metropolitan police have confirmed that what's left of the vehicle will be returned to Musa in France.
