Porsche has stood firm in their efforts towards electrification. Their Mission E concept is on the fast track to production, not to mention all of their electric variations of current vehicles. It's no surprise they would take a jab at Tesla.

When Porsche's head of electric vehicles, Stefan Wekbach, was asked a question about the Tesla Model S's ability to accelerate from 0-62 in less than 3.0 seconds, Wekbach said, "But only twice—the third attempt will fail. The system is throttled."

This is a poke at the fact that Tesla used to restrict the number of consecutive and total times a driver could utilize Launch Control. Tesla no longer restricts the use of Launch Control or how often a driver uses "full-pedal acceleration" now, but people don't forget. Wekbach didn't stop there, either.

"Porsche drivers won't need to worry about that, [the Mission E has] reproducible performance and a top speed which can be maintained for long periods."

Nothing more than a friendly rib, Porsche still recognizes the incredible feats that Tesla has accomplished. But like all competitions, they want to do better. If the Mission E is truly capable of a 400-plus horsepower and a 300-mile range vehicle, then they might actually be a contender in the electric market. Until it actually hits production, we won't know which one is genuinely better.
