Buying a Porsche is expensive. It's not something everyone can afford. But for those who need one for just an evening, there's Drive.

Drive is a new service by Porche that offers rentals for Macans, 718 Caymans, or Boxters to interested consumers. It costs a total (including tax and fees) of $300 a day. The more extreme enthusiasts can even rent out a 911 for an entire week for $3,000.

The service is organized and managed through the associated mobile app or the official website. According to a representative, the service is "explicitly open to visitors from wherever." Klaus Zellmer, Porsche Cars North America President and CEO had this to say.

"We want to offer a choice in how people experience the thrill of driving a Porsche. Our market research shows that consumers want options across a spectrum from access to ownership. The Porsche Drive and Porsche Host pilots are exciting, non-traditional ways to let customers choose how they get behind the wheel of a Porsche."

There are dozens of reasons why someone may only need a high-end luxury car for a day or two. Most of them are along the lines of "show off to your associates," but we won't judge. Either way, there's a far more affordable option for you now.
