Classic cars are an everlasting interest. The more time that passes, the rarer they become. This also makes them a valuable asset worth protecting. Porsche has announced a new security and tracking system for classic cars.

Appropriately named The Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking system, it enables detailed information tracking for the owner's vehicle. Users can see the exact location, receive alerts, and set safekeeping all from their smartphone.

Let's say your car gets stolen. The PCVT system will alert the owner that the vehicle has been moved, or that the battery has been disconnected. If the owner then confirms that a theft has occurred, Porsche will automatically contact the local police with all of the relevant information. They can continue to track the car, and even disable the ability to restart, should the thief turn the car off at any point.

A geo-fencing option will let the owner know if their vehicle ever leaves a designated area, while accelerometers can notify them if they go over a certain speed limit. All good features for setting limits on children using your car or joyriders boosting your vehicle.

On a less serious side of things, the system can help users find their cars in a crowded parking lot, disable features when performing maintenance, and check where the car has been.

The PCVT system can be installed at a registered Porsche dealership in Europe with no word on an American release. It will be given the needed GPS technology and the user will be directed to the correct mobile app. Depending on your country, a monthly fee may be required.
