With Polestar leaving Volvo to becomes its own performance brand, we are now getting rumors that the company is working a high-performance coupe that will debut later this year. The car is expected to be a 600 horsepower hybrid coupe, which will be based on an existing Volvo platform. I'm not quite sure how that's going to work, seeing as how Volvo doesn't really have anything close to 600 HP in their lineup.
I'm not sure if this 600 horsepower figure was pulled out of thin air or what, but only time will tell. There have also been rumors of another mystery car that Polestar will be working on, however there is no information out at all. Polestar's main goal is to create and develop electrified high-performance vehicles, which I don't think they will have many problems with.
If all of these rumors turn out to be true and we're actually looking at a 600 horsepower hybrid coupe built off of an existing Volvo platform, I'll be very surprised. That would look great for Polestar and will give them plenty of fuel to move forward as their own brand. Hopefully they can keep the car as cheap as possible though, however unlikely that may be.
