Watching movies like Mad Max always gave me an appreciation for the idea of battle cars. This appreciation would always go unfulfilled, however, considering my P.T. Cruiser had a hard time taking steep slopes into the parking lot of Wendys without some lasting damage to the bumper. Since I couldn't afford to replicate my own version of the Undertaker (the monster truck, not the wrestler) then I was left with carnival bumper cars being my only means of vehicular violence.

Imagine my surprise when I heard that armoring and composites specialist Plasan have created a right-hand drive commuter car that is a little more than just Tonka Tough: The SandCat Stormer Armored SUV.

This solid set of wheels operates as well as it looks. With high maneuverability, seating for up to 10, and armoring capable of withstanding whatever assault comes your way, this car is a pair of treads away from being a tank with a bike rack. It's based on a Ford F-550 SuperDuty, so patience and repair shouldn't be too unfamiliar.

The SandCat Stormer can dish it out as well as it can take it, non lethally at least. Some of the various additions include sat-nav, air-con, Safe Crowd Attenuating Technology, non-lethal multi-shot 40mm smoke/gas grenade launcher, Long Range Acoustic Device and Light Dazzler.

In all seriousness, this is a wonderfully made vehicle that would do great in the law enforcement and peacekeeping field.
