So guess what's powering the world's first Level 3 self-driving production car?
I'll give you a hint: it's not AMD.
It's NVIDIA. Anyway, Audi announced last Tuesday that its A8 would be the "first production vehicle to ship with the Level 3 self-driving feature onboard." (Thanks, TechCrunch!)
Be aware that the Audi will go on sale next year.
But the best part? NVIDIA will be powering the "traffic jam pilot," the virtual cockpit instrumentation, the infotainment system, and the backseat headrest tablets.
In other words, expect more compared to Tesla's Autopilot system, as the system is classified as Level 2 and requires a driver to be paying attention and to be aware of his or her surroundings.
Truth be told, I think even with Level 3 you should be aware of the environment surrounding you. Unfortunately, the new system from NVIDIA is designed primarily for those situations of sitting in traffic.
Want to check out more about the car? Then you should refer to this here video:
Do note that NVIDIA's processor is the known as the brain of the zFAS system. Anyway, what do you think of this piece of news? Exciting or a tad scary? Let us know in the comments!
