Well it appears Nissan wasn't lying when they said that they were bringing their Nismo brand to other cars in their lineup! Although I imagine few would have thought that its next appearance would be for the Nissan Versa!
According to Nissan, its Nismo Performance Package Concept for the Versa shows off an "aerodynamic design" and "enhanced handling characteristics with superior agility." Add on's include spoilers for the front and rear bumpers, new side skirts, a rear trunk spoiler, 17 inch wheels paired with 205/45/17 tires, a sports suspension and a Nismo exhaust round off the modifications. Although the major down side is that there are NO performance modifications!
Here's the official release statement from Nissan:
"The Nissan Almera Nismo Performance Package Concept is being unveiled for the first time in the world, together with Edaran Tan Chong Motor, our long-term partner here in Malaysia," said Shoichi Miyatani, President of Nismo. "We are glad to have our Nismo brand in Nissan’s mainstream models as it offers something special in terms of advanced motorsports technology, dynamic performance capabilities, and distinctively sporty design that is embodied in Nismo, Nissan’s motorsports, performance and personalization brand."
Well, I guess this can be viewed as something being better than nothing right? I mean, who really expected a Nismo Versa to turn up with extra horsepower or even a turbo slapped on? The other real question is will it come in stick?
