The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race at Watkins Glen had to be stopped and abandoned following a wreck that involved at least 9 vehicles. Of those 9, 4 drivers had to be sent to the hospital directly from the race. The condition of the drivers is unknown, but more information should be surfacing in the next few days.

The crash started when Remo Ruscitti and Mark Kvamme made contact. The side collision began a chain reaction as cars from behind failed to avoid the wreckage. A few vehicles did end up maneuvering through the crash site, but many were caught in the pile. The crash happened on a section of the track over a crest, making it very difficult for drivers to see what was happening ahead of them.

Had this been in a more open part of the track with higher visibility, it probably would have been very minimal wreckage. Unfortunately, that was not the case and we are all hoping that the drivers will be okay. You can see the video of the crash right down below. The replays of the crash begin around the 4:40 mark of the video and you can see how much damage was inflicted.
