I was browsing through Left Lane News recently and saw an article on the upcoming BMW M3 GTS-R. As you can see from the photo's the car is pretty stout with added power (450hp pumping from a massaged v8) and a reduced curb weight down to 3200 pounds, that's a 500 pound drop from it's predecessor! This heavily upgraded M will be on sale later this year.
Indeed, this is a truly sexy car, coming in Matt Black (I wonder if they offer a full vinyl option? lol) and I wonder what it's track times might be. However, my only severe gripe is that it has a boy ricer wing on the back. I didn't realize BMW was aiming at that demographic that much? What say you?

I am not a big fan of bimmers at all no matter what they do to them. I think the Corvette still owns the GT3 Le Mans anyway a lot of the companies can't compete. I would only buy one if I was married because they are relatively safe cars and I'd feel more comfortable if my wife driving it. I hate to say it but unless they fix the lack of torque in that engine, I think a base C6 or even a grandsport will still piss on it even if it has 14 more hp and weighs about 50lbs less. Doesn't it weigh 3260? I thought I read somewhere it did.

Yeah, various sites have conflicting weights. So I'm not totally sure. I do like the looks of the car quite a bit, minus the wing of course. Plus it's a luxury car at heart so that helps. Plus, dosen't BMW give you free oil changes for life? :D

I didn't previous realize the M3 weighed almost 3700 lbs..I see several of them at work (filthy engineers!) I always wonder where the hell this 500 lbs of fat comes from, but it's great to hear a new iteration of a car is actually LOSING weight, not adding another 100 lbs of crap as is common now.
@3200 lbs and 450hp it should be a rocket.
