Mitsubishi have revealed some new information about their e-Evolution Concept. The sleek ride has 3 motors, a torque vectoring Active Yaw Control system, and artificial intelligence.
The 3 electric motors are distributed amongst the wheels, one for the front pair, 2 for the back. The torque vectoring Active Yaw Control system was added to help improve handling. It's sharp and sleek design makes me think of TRON in all black. While these are interesting enough, the real pull is in the artificial intelligence.
Mitsubishi made the statement that the AI "augments the driver's capabilities" when they drive. Aside from using sensors to survey their surroundings and read traffic/road conditions, the system will also have the ability to coach the driver using an in-dash display to help them improve their driving skills. By using speech recognition the passenger is capable of having a natural conversation with their car. The AI will "learn" their driver over time and customize its behavior to better suit them.
While the e-Evolution Concept wasn't developed by Knight Industries Three Thousand, nor designed by ENCOM, I can't help but think the 1980s version of the future is now. Mitsubishi intends to formally introduce the e-Evolution Concept at the 2017 Tokyo auto show.
