Back at the 2017 Frankfurt auto show, we saw a concept by Mini for their next electric hardtop. Now the automaker has returned to tease a few images of the expected production models in 2019.
We first noticed the sealed-off grille sporting the company's electric mobility logo and the interesting wheel design. It seems the four-spoke concept will actually transfer into the production model. Sources also state that the front access bar will illuminate.
The automaker is currently testing prototypes of the vehicle, which is expected to have a production name of "Mini Electric." They're hoping to start production next year in the UK and China.
Currently, the car's specs are unknown. This is likely in part due to the rapidly evolving nature of electric and battery technology. Estimations are that the battery will be found in the floor/under the rear seat. We can also assume at least a 200-mile range, based on current EPA testing.
This will be one of 12 fully electric cars to be produced by the BMW Group by the end of 2025. Others include the BMW iX3, i4, and iNext. Personally, I like it. Though I seem to have the taste of a 16 year old girl from California.
