How well do you know the various light on your dashboard? Your age might tell you. According to a recent survey by Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires, "Younger Drivers" are less likely to know what the TPMS warning light means.

Specifically speaking, 49 percent of Millennials and Gen Z participants could not tell you what the tire pressure monitoring system warning symbol meant. This is 10 percent higher than the overall population.

The same study also discovered that a majority of drivers are not performing the proper preparations for winter. This includes getting their tires checked.

While some publications have taken this to be a "haha, look how uneducated the youngsters of today are" type of report. Perhaps we should look at it more critically. Public schools do not have an automotive class to teach kids about vehicle car and maintenance. This means that, unless sent to special classes, the responsibility of educating them is left to the parents.

Just like when we take our kids out to a parking lot to teach them to drive, we should be teaching them to understand what everything on the dashboard means. If they don't know, then it's because we never taught them.

Instead of poking fun at others, let's take this as a learning opportunity. AutoZone has a fantastic online resource for learning what every dashboard warning light means. Why not give it a look through?
