While flying cars are still nothing more than a sci-fi fantasy, we haven't given up on the idea. One Miami enthusiast has even built a flying car skyport for when that day does come.

According to local news station WSVN 7, a residential building known as the Paramount Miami World Center will be getting its own vehicular skyport. Here, residents can park their flying cars on the roof, instead of dealing with the busy traffic on the ground. Or they can when flying cars become a norm, at least.

Project CEO Daniel Kodski cites the classic TV show The Jetsons as his inspiration for the idea. He says that America has joked about the idea since the show's conception in the 1960s and he wants to see it become a reality.

In the meantime, various companies and automakers are making an effort to produce their own flying cars.  Uber is working with NASA, for example. The current challenge is mastering the vertical take-off and landing procedures. Many more issues will arise after this, however. Let's not forget the legislative complications. So it will be a good while before we actually have flying cars.
