With self-driving cars on the rise, automakers are looking for ways to entertaining passengers while their vehicles do all of the driving for them. But they don't seem to have any ideas and have taken to asking the public for help.

Mercedez Benz and their parent company Daimler has started what they call the In-Car Gaming Challenge. This limited time competition is asking students, gamers, and developers to help create the first in a wave of in-car games. They have a section for passenger vehicles, buses, and mobile devices, each focused on the autonomous potential.

Participants are encouraged to implement aspects of the vehicles into the games. This includes the multiplayer potential of the bus option, the augmented reality options, and so on. Daimler believes that in-car gaming is going to be a major feature of future cars, and want to embrace it to the fullest.

The competition has the backing of the Electronic Sports League, who are acting on the judging panel. Prizes range from eSports tickets to cash winnings. The top winner will work with the automaker for six months to develop their game for a Mercedez Benz vehicle. The competition ends on May 16. More information, including how to enter, can be found on the official website.

Personally, I'm left on edge about this program. The right idea can make someone their first million. I wouldn't want to forfeit my hard creative work just for the opportunity to win a relatively small value.
