What Is Robocar?
Roborace has revealed their unimaginatively named racer today, Robocar. This is the first time it's been shown as more than a drawing. It has absolutely no cockpit, and no human driver, but it was designed by Daniel Simon, better known as the designer for "Tron: Legacy."
Featured at the Mobile World Congress in Spain, the Robocar racer weighs about 2,150 pounds, 189 inches long and 79 inches wide. It has four 300-kW electric motors, and is backed by a 540-kW battery. Altogether, that means the top speed of the Robocar is slightly under 200 mph.
What's The Point?
There is no word on whether or when robot-to-robot competition will occur, but it is possible. As of this point AI cars are simply a method of technological advancement, but it is entirely possible they will eventually be connected to those car concepts aimed to drive people places. Soon people might be asking "what's driving? What's Uber?"
