McLaren has given us a new teaser regarding their upcoming supercar, one considered the true successor to the F1. This time it isn't an image or video, but a sculpture.
The British automaker revealed the piece this morning (Wednesday, April 4), providing a glimpse at the cabin design of the currently code-named BP23. The name means "Bespoke Project 2, 3 seaters." The sculpture is called Speed Form. Expect only 106 examples of the BP23 to be produced. The sculpture is a bespoke gift for customers, so we can expect 106 of them as well.
We can clearly see a unique, three-seated layout from atop the form. A central driver position, made famous by the F1, is highlighted by a red (or is that more of an orange) material. The seating arrangement flows smoothly into the flat surface of the sculpture. It's very artistic. The block is about 16 inches long, and weighing a solid 8 pounds. They are shaped via cutting machine and hand polished to a shine.
The BP23 itself is being developed within a makeshift body of a 720S. This will be McLaren's fastest and most powerful road vehicle yet, expecting to exceed the F1's 243 mph record. The power comes from a combination 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 from the 720S and an electric drive system.
Even if you could afford one, all examples have already been purchased, and they expect delivery sometime in 2019.
