The future is hard to predict. In the 40's, we thought we'd have flying cars and robot butlers by 2000. Instead, we have electric cars and trade tariffs. Even so, this doesn't stop us from imagining the "what if" of the future. Or in this case, students do their best to guess what the Bentley of the future will look like.

Bentley asked the students of the London Royal College of Art to design what they thought a Bentley 2050 might look like. From the entries, the automaker chose four to highlight.

The first one is called Luxury Soundscapes, designed by Irene Chiu. With audio in mind, the cabin is shaped specifically to filter noise throughout the cabin. No more road hum, just comfort to your ears.

The next one is called Material Humanity, by Kate NamGoong. Her focus was on the emotional qualities of a luxury car. She tries to estimate what folks of the future will consider classy and works toward that. It keeps a traditional combustion engine with a manual transmission, believing these will be seen as automotive rarities by this point in time.

After that, we have the Stratospheric Grand Touring, by Jack Watson. With international travel in mind, Watson played with the idea that travel will become significantly faster than it currently is. With this mindset, Bentley owners could "live wherever they like." It's not clear if it's intended to be a flying vehicle or not.

Lastly, we have the Elegant Autonomy, by Enuji Choi. Instead of looking at what the vehicle is capable of, they embrace the fashion potential of modern times. With a "sleek as can be" design, this vehicle would be what debutants and queens alike would use to travel to formal events.

Which ones will actually have a future? We'll just have to wait a few (or maybe 30) years to find out.
