So if you were wondering what the Next Generation Mustang might look like, here's your chance as Car and Driver recently posted a leaked 360 Viewer that shows the rendering of what appears to be the final version of the 2015 Mustang. Other than that, we have a variety of spy photos to go off of which show off some of the real world design ques that went into the car.
From our observation, it looks like the car is a bit more compact which might be true as Ford states the car will be 200 pounds lighter. The engine comparment appears as if it might be even larger than previous which is interesting as well. Other than that, it looks like a bit of a mash up between a Mustang, BRZ/FRS and a Ford Fusion which unfortunatly is a direction in which Ford is wanting to venture in making all of their cars look "alike," good or bad?
There's also an abundant amount of information on the differing engine sizes the new Mustang will have. The first year will carry the same v6 and v8 varients however Ford is stating they will drop in a Direct Injection Turbocharged 2.3L 4 cyclinder that will produce 310 horsepower! In the following years they will have a 3.5-liter EcoBoost v6 that will jump up to 400 horsepower and the 5.0 Coyote will be upped to 500 horsepower which will give buyers 3 levels of power options to choose from depending on budget. They also mention that the Supercharged Trinity 5.8L might go away and be replaced by a Twin Turbocharged Mustang code named Voodoo. Their estimates on numbers are extremely conservation inbetween 550-600 horsepower which doesn't make a whole lot of sense?
Other than the engine and outpout, Ford is wanting to get rid of the 6 speed and put in a 10 speed automatic which doesn't make a lick of sense but maybe they worded that incorrectly? I guess only time will tell. Also making its return will be the independant rear suspension which many will love! Be sure to head over to Car and Driver for further details and pics.
