On the evening of March 29th the Los Angeles Police Department got involved with a long car chase involving two separate vehicles. Before the chase began, the male driver exited the vehicle and let a woman out of the passenger side door. It wasn’t clear if she was demanding to be let out or if the man was letting her out because he did not want her involved. He then returned to his vehicle and began speeding off at speeds over one hundred miles per hour. He then turned off his headlights and began weaving through traffic to attempt to lose the police officers.

It was even reported that the man was using his cell phone in the car while driving at these speeds. The suspect then stopped the car under a freeway overpass and left the vehicle at Hollywood Way. Witnesses who saw him exit the car later confirmed that he jumped into a black four-door Ford F-150 with another person inside. At least one witness was able to capture the license plate of the vehicle and turned it in to police when they arrived.

The LAPD then began their second chase to stop the F-150. The vehicle had crashed in North Hollywood at Laurel Canyon at Oxnard after making a turn at a very high speed. Police are now trying to figure out if the passenger in the crashed vehicle was working with the suspect or if he was a victim of circumstance. Could the suspect have been using his phone to tell a friend to come help him, or did he take control of the F-150 without knowing the previous driver?
