Self-driving cars are predominately seen as a consumer feature still far in development, but it's made its way into motorsports, as well. And now, it's even entered the toy industry. Mini car giant Hot Wheels has announced a new figurine model, based on the self-driving electric race car, the Roborace.
Measuring in at a 1:64 scale model, How Wheels announced the new toy on Tuesday. It depicts the Roborace, a powerful, autonomous electric race car currently under development for the Formula E championship events. Using the DevBot 2.0 system, the vehicle removes the previously required cockpit for a more sleek and aerodynamic shape. The toy translates that shape, and the color patterns on the exterior, into the figurine.
The Roborace Hot Wheels toy is available now. We tried finding online retailers or a price, no luck. The official Mattel webpage doesn't even say anything.
