It was 2013 when Honda set the world record for the fastest lawnmower with their custom creation: the Mean Mower. This bad boy hit an impressive 116 mph. Just last March, we reported on their next endeavor in the field, the Mean Mower MK2 (now called V2). Now more information has risen regarding the tiny racer.
When first revealed in March, Honda stated an expected top speed of 134 mph. Managing Director of Honda UK has now come out to say that "a top speed of more than 150 mph is very much in our sights."
This is primarily in thanks to a 999cc 4 cylinder engine you'd usually find in a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycle. In motorcycle form and lawnmower form alike, it has 189 horsepower and 86 pound-feet of torque. the Mean Mower V2 will also feature a Fireblade clutch, ECU, 6-speed sequential transmission, and LCD display.
All of this is pushed into a set of 10-inch ATV wheels with Hoosier racing tires. For extra zest, the wheels have been dipped in a gold hue. To handle the speed is a set of Kelgate brakes on four-piston front calipers and six-piston rears.
Despite being half motorcycle, a fair bit of effort is still being made toward maintaining its lawnmower status. It can still cut grass through the use of a modified mower deck and carbon fiber blades. It's still on it's original HF 2622 lawn tractor shape, as well.
There still isn't a date for when Honda intends to make a new world record attempt with the Mean Mower V2, but they remind us that 23-year-old racing driver Jessica Hawkins will pilot the machine via a recently released teaser video.
