When automakers get bored, interesting things happen. My favorite silly idea of the holidays is by Hennessey, who strapped a tree to a Hellcat to see it go fast. Had I said this in April, no one would believe me.
John Hennessey acquired a 6-foot Douglas Fir and put it on top of an unmodified Challenger Hellcat Widebody. The Hellcat/tree made their way to Continental Tire's proving ground to see what they could achieve. Turns out when you attach a tree to a 707 horsepower vehicle, it goes fast. 174mph fast, to be precise.
I'm not sure what they expected to happen, but I'd call this a resounding success. That tree went fast. You can see this experience for yourself with the video below.
