Whether you know the name "George Barris" or not, odds are youve seen his work. George Barris was the designer of vehicles such as the 1966 Batmobile, and Kight Rider's smart car, K.I.T.T. How his personal customized Ferrari 308 GTS is up for auction.

The 250bhp, V8-engined Ferrari 308 was purchased by Barris in 1978 as a "personal indulgence." His ambition did not stop there. He modified the front and read arches to have additional flair, as well as fitting wider wheels and tires.

The pop up headlights were replaced with driving lights based on the 512 BB, while also being moved down below the bumper. Might as well replace the spoiler and grille while you there, and you cant replace front spoiler without doing the same for the rear spoiler. To top it all off is the gold and brown paint job you see above.

The inside looks like it was ripped right out of Knight Rider. The unique digital instrument pod, NEC telephone, a Sony TV, Kenwood stereo, backup camera, and security keypad are a futuristic contrast to the Reupholstered seats and retro style.

Shockingly, the 308 only have 8,000 miles on it. It has been kept in wonderful condition throughout its life, having recently received a new timing belt, tensioner and clutch service.

You can try and bid on the vehicle yourself at the Barrett Jackson Auction page, except that the site appears to be down due to increased traffic.
