To celebrate the date (4/26) Fiat Chrysler's Parts and Accessories Division Mopar is opening pre-orders for their big bad Hemi 426 engine: The Hellephant.

This might be the most powerful crate engine in the market. Originally unveiled at the 2018 SEMA show, it has an impressive 1,000 horsepower and 950 pound-feet of torque. Just make sure you can afford the $29,995 price tag.

It might sound like a bit much, paying the price of a modest new sedan for just an engine. But a Honda Accord won't churn out power like this one. If it helps any, the 7.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine also comes with a water pump, flywheel, front sump oil pan, fuel injectors, coil packs, and supercharger all attached.

Let's say you want this immense potential in a classic car. Fiat Chrysler also offers an assembly kit for pre-1976 vehicles. It comes with everything needed to support the older framework. The assembly kit costs $2,265.

There are other a-la-carte options available through Mopar, such as an expansion kit for an air-conditioner, plus installation kits for a custom exhaust manifold, rear sump oil pan, and 45-degree oil filter.

When the engine was revealed at SEMA 2018, over 1,000 parties had expressed interest in purchasing one. At least that's what Mopar parts and services head Steve Beahm said in a statement. Interested in pre-ordering one? Contact Mopar for details.
