An unfortunate collision occurred in Cornwall, England, when a young man driving a modified Ford Fiesta ran head first into a Saab Automobile. The results of his trial have come to a conclusion.
The 18-year-old Jack Bright was driving on A38 between Liskeard and Bodmin when he attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of him. He was reported as having passed a solid centre line into the other lane driving approximately 91 miles per hour when he ran into Marek Cook, who was driving in their lane going the opposite direction.
The force of the collision was strong enough to eject the modified Ford's engine out of the compartment. The modifications to the Fiesta were said to have made the vehicle 23% more powerful than the stock model. Mr. Cook did not survive the collision, while his wife and one other passenger were injured.
Bright, now 19, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving in August and has now been jailed for 2 years in a young offenders’ institute. In addition, he is banned from driving for 4 years and will require an extended driving test afterwards.
