The first time we saw the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, it was being dropped in by helicopter at the Chevy Truck Centennial Celebration last year. Now it's made its debut last night at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and we get a closer look at all of its juicy details.

The Silverado, aside from looking fairly sharp, is more fuel efficient than before. It's lost 450 pounds by utilizing 7 different types of metals to create a strong but lightweight body, while keeping its bed not only as durable as ever but also 7 inches wider.

You won't be limited to just one kind of Silverado. The 2019 Silverado will have a regular cab, extended cab, and four-door crew cab configurations available, each with short and long bed options. Chevy announced last week that they are increasing production of its crew cab option in order to meet demand.

Chevy officials have stated that there are 6 different engine and transmission combinations, such as a 6.2-liter V-8 with a 10-speed automatic, or a 3.0-liter turbodiesel if you'd prefer something with more kick.

The more visible changes include sleeker headlights and a new front fascia that stays flush to trim levels. The square wheel flares have been taken away from the last generation, and the side mirrors are door mounted. Chevy engineers say that these changes allow the Silverado to be 7% more wind efficient than before.

Personally, my favorite change is that for the first time since the 90s, we see the Chevrolet name branded along the tailgate.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is due to the market this summer, with detailed specs and pricing available at a later date.
