A Chevrolet Corvette at auction isn't out of the ordinary, but this is no ordinary Corvette. Barrett-Jackson Auctions have come across the Centurion, a Modified C1 Corvette, that looks like like a C2.
The imposter C2's information documents reveal that the 1958 Chevrolet Corvette was modified to replicate the original 1959 XP-87 Stingray car owned by Bill Mitchell, the second vice president of global design for GM.
The project wasn't even a custom job but was undertaken by Fiberfab in 1965. A Rochester fuel-injected 283-cubic-inch V-8 engine sits under the hood. It powers a 4-speed manual transmission from a 1962 Corvette. After some time aging, it went through restoration, gaining the Silver exterior seen now. The car's original C1 Corvette VIN is also still present.
Whether you agree with the decision to distort a C1 Corvette to this degree or not, its beauty is undeniable.
The Centurion will be put up on the block at the Scottsdale, Arizona Barrett-Jackson auction, taking place on January 13-21, 2018. We aren't sure how much a vehicle like this would go for under this context, but we do know it won't be cheap.
