BMW is looking to expand. The carmaker has plans to launch 26 M and M Performance models from now until the end of 2020.

These numbers do include revised vehicles, and not entirely new ones. 11 of these will be full M models while 15 of them will be softer M Performance vehicles

We know of a new BMW M3, which is expected to be unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new M3 will have a number of carbon fiber parts, dropping its weight to 110 lbs less the current standard M3. The new model will also have the latest version of the CLAR platform, maximizing the vehicle's aluminum and steel. It's expected to have about 10% more power to it than the current model, clocking in at 465 horsepower. The new M3 will maintain its rear wheel drive as opposed to the M5's all-wheel drive. This should help keep weight and cost both down.

BMW is also looking at M variants of the X3, X4, Z4, and 8. The Performance Models will have variants to the X2, 3 Series, and the X7. While these all certainly add to the count towards those 26, the only way of knowing what they all will be is with time.
