Aston Martin remains hard at work with their upcoming Rapid-E, the automaker's first electric car. CEO Andy Palmer recently released an update about the vehicle, confirming its unique battery system.

The Rapid-E uses an 800-volt design. The special, T shaped battery is capable of far greater charging speeds than the current electric vehicles on the market floor currently. To compare, The Porsche Taycan, which uses the same battery, can charge up to 80 percent capacity in only 15 minutes.

Since this is a special project by the automaker, it will not count toward their planned seven production models outlined in the Second Century plan.

In the works since 2015, the Rapid-E is a fully electric variation of their popular Rapide line. It has an estimated 800 horsepower and a 200-mile range. The Aston Martin vehicle will cost a fair price of ~$250,000 when it releases in the late end of next year. Only 155 examples of the Rapid-E will be built, after all.
