A new vehicle has been unveiled as part of the McLaren Sport Series, the 600LT.
The 600LT will act as the middle step between the 570S and the 720S from the Super Series, but with a beautiful body variant. The LT stands for Longtail, which was the design focus this time around. Longtails are McLaren's way of saying "track focused," and this will be the third ever McLaren vehicle to have it.
Like with past LTs, this car has a wonderful combination of high power and low weight. The 600LT has improved aerodynamics and enhanced driver engagement to provide a better performance when operating the 600 horsepower the car is generating from its 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. It will have a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission delivering that power as dictated by the driver.
Not only is the 600LT more powerful than the 570S, it's also a good 211 pounds lighter. This was done by liberal carbon fiber usage, as well as some exhaust plumbing alterations. If you really wanted even less weight, the seats could be replaced by those from the Senna.
A limited number of 600LTs will be produced, which will begin in October, lasting for about one year. I'd say to get one while you can, but this car won't cost pocket change, that's for sure. You can catch sight of the 600LT at its formal debut on July 12 at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
