We knew that the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 would be an incredibly powerful vehicle. Especially when its tuned by Hennessey. Now we know what that means exactly. Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles spoke about the vehicle and its performance specs at the 2018 12 Hours of Sebring race.

According to Charles, the ZR1 will be able to go from 0 to 60 in 2.85 seconds and 100 mph in 6.0 seconds. It will also be capable of achieving a quarter mile time of 10.6 seconds, which is especially impressive given the vehicle is a track-focused sports car.

These numbers are thanks to its 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V-8 engine, which pushes out 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. The engine was so large, that the engineers working on the vehicle playfully nicknamed the LT5 as BAS, meaning Big Ass Supercharger.

The existence of the current ZR1 is a blessing. The Corvette team never planned to make a new ZR1 after the C6 Corvette released. The companies focus at the time was more on the Stingray and Z06 models. It was after some engineer experimentation between performance and aerodynamics, the ZR1 was born.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 currently holds the lap record for the Virginia International Raceway's Grand Course West, clocking in at 2:37.25.
